COMMITMENTS
Acting with purpose, preserving with care

RESPONSIBILITY
A living heritage, cultivated with respect
For the Artémis Domaines teams, preserving the heritage of this exceptional site and restoring the richness of its unique ecosystem was immediately recognised as a duty.
Our organic farming certification, obtained in 2017, merely formalised a philosophy that was already deeply rooted in the estate’s practices. From the moment we arrived in 2011, it was clear that the vineyard would be managed using organic and then biodynamic farming methods. Our sensitive and rigorous approach aims to strengthen the balance of life and consolidate the links between the plant, the soil and its environment. Plant- and mineral-based preparations help us to stimulate the vines’ natural defences as well as the balance and life of the soil, in pursuit of a central objective: to promote the most accurate and sincere expression of this centuries-old terroir.
Surrounded by forests covering a quarter of its surface area, Château-Grillet is an exceptionally rich ecosystem.
In recent years, we have also implemented an agroforestry approach either within the plots or on the edges of the vineyards: almond, plum, peach, oak, maple and lime trees have been planted. Their presence creates shade, regulates climatic extremes, strengthens the resilience of the vineyard and stimulates biodiversity.
In addition to these trees, other habitats for beneficial wildlife – such as nesting boxes for tits and bat roosts – have been installed, with a measurable impact on the presence of local wildlife. More than 133 species of birds, insects, amphibians and mammals have recently been recorded within our ecosystem by an expert naturalist.

Preservation also means maintaining:
The dry stone walls that support our terraces (‘chaillées’) are patiently restored year after year, perpetuating a skill that is essential to the beauty and balance of our landscapes.
The estate’s wooded areas and the century-old trees surrounding the château are managed with the same passion and long-term vision.
These efforts are accompanied by other long-term structural actions:
- Gradual renewal of the vineyard and restoration of genetic diversity using high-quality plant material
- Continuous reduction of our carbon footprint by reducing our use of fossil fuels
- Careful resource management: reduction of water and electricity consumption, waste recycling, responsible purchasing
